WTE Squeaks by with a “Clutch” Goal

It was everything that we anticipated the game to be a close “nail biter”. It was a battle to the end for all involved and having a short bench meant that everyone had to dig a little deaper. WTE carried a two goal lead late in the game until Girls n Boys rallied back with two quick goals. The reality was setting in that their perfect season was on the line. With some key saves at the end of the game by Devon “The Legend” Kunkel and some solid defending the team was able to hold off “Girls n’ Boys” long enough for “Captain Clutch” DeFranco to tally the game winner, the game ended in a 4-3 win for WTE.

It was a game that WTE went into expecting to win, so much in fact that there was some guarentees made. Brad, came up to WTE and requested that a guarentee be made for him to score a hat trick in his next match up. It fell short as Brad was able to net WTE’s first goal of the night and was held to nothing afterwards. When asked to comment about his performance Brad had this to say; “So I didn’t deliver on the guarentee,as everyone saw. We did win though” It was short and to the point. WTE did in fact extend their winning streak to 4 games but it came at an expense. While playing in the game Brad suffered a stress fracture in his right foot and will likely be out 2-3 weeks. He has told the team that he will be in the press box watching the games intently.

Brad wasn’t the only one that suffered an injury. Rachel (One half of the Carkner Concoction) looked to re-aggrevate her ankle injury from last season. She is now listed as day-to-day and is questionable for this weeks game against the “Misfits”. When asked about her status Rachel responded; “Yeah im ok its this damn ankle of mine that is gonna be a pain in my ass this year”. Will Rachel return for next week we’ll have to wait and see.

Brad was not the only one making guarentees last game. A reporter heard a conversion unfold between Annie “The Rocket” Fitzgerald and Travis “Captain Clutch” DeFranco:

Annie: Why does brad get to be the only one making guarentees.

Travis: Because he hasn’t been scoring often and he wanted to change that.

Annie: I haven’t scored yet i’m guarenteeing a goal next shift… or next half

Annie did pull through on her guarentee scoring early in the second half which at the team put the team up by 2. It looks as though Annie has found her touch and will look to do more damage this week.

I hope that you enjoyed the game and we will see everyone there at next weeks game.
